Gloriously downbeat, textural and atmospheric, Kid Koala's lovingly crafted Solid Steel mix could never be released due to licensing issues. We've always thought that a great shame, and as such we're very pleased to offer it as this week's Ninja Tune XX giveaway... Enjoy.
Kid Koala will be playing the Ninja Tune XX live shows in Paris, Brussels, London, New York and LA, and has a brand new track as part of the XX releases.

We are very sad to report that Beau Velasco passed away Sunday in Brooklyn. Beau co-founded The Death Set with his partner Johnny Siera in Australia in 2005. Johnny had this statement to make Monday morning: "R.I.P. my dear brother, friend and band mate Beau Velasco. We are all so devastated that I will keep this short. We love you and you will be missed. You affected us all so much in the most positive ways. Our lives would not be as is if not for you. We love you. For all those who wish to pay their respects we will let the details be known soon."

Well, number two in the new series of Ninja Tune Podcasts can tell you all that and more. Hosted by the effervescent Dexter and featuring an in depth interview with Beans, High Priest and M Sayid, it’s worth a lot but comes for free.
There’s also exclusive snippets of songs from the album, as well as the music that inspired one of hip-hop’s greatest collectives in the first place. Plus new music from The Heavy/Joker, Grasscut, Bonobo, Blockhead and Two Fingers. ‘Av it.
