Manchester based DJ and producer Anz is set to release her first EP for Ninja Tune. Intended as a soundtrack for 24 hours, ‘All Hours’ is a non-stop journey through the history of dance music and underground culture - from New Dance Show inspired electro through club-focused breakbeat, classic UK garage and jungle. Seamlessly pieced together in Anz’ genre bending, infectiously joyous style, each track flows effortlessly into the next “sort of like a mini spring/summer dubs” Anz commented – a reference to her celebrated annual mixtapes of 100% new and original productions. “ ‘All Hours’ was built to be a soundtrack for 24 hours, from sunrise to the next. Dance music for people who are up all hours - through the day to the club and onwards, each track leaves traces in the one that follows”.

The release follows a hugely successful few years for Anz where, despite a global pandemic, she stayed busy. Launching her own label OTMI, heading up a momentous BBC Radio 1 residency, celebrating four years of her lauded monthly NTS show, securing DJ Mag’s 2020 UK ‘Breakthrough DJ’ award and releasing a critically acclaimed 12” with UK stalwarts Hessle Audio - which featured 2020 anthem ‘Loos in Twos (NRG)’, Anz has cemented her position as one of the most exciting and hard working young voices in UK dance music. Over the years she’s gained endless praise from DJ Mag, The Guardian, Fact, Resident Advisor, Mixmag, Pitchfork and most recently Crack Magazine, featuring on their June 2021 cover. She’s been called upon by Mary Anne Hobbs for guest mixes, covered NTS’ flagship Do!! You!! breakfast show, made multiple Boiler Room appearances and played alongside the likes of Peggy Gou, Floating Points, Joy Orbison and Call Super.

‘All Hours’ pays homage to the many faces and seminal eras of electronic music; an ambitious, evocative interpretation of the sounds and sentiments that comprise a day (and night) out on the UK underground. “It's 24 hours to choose your own adventure: from morning to night, into first light. Music for all hours, and music that’s all ours too”. Transporting us on a heady trip, we meet a contemplative but optimistic Anz at ‘Decisions’ before venturing into the effervescent afternoon sunshine of ‘You Could Be ft. George Riley’. The evening brings the sweet UKG shuffle of ‘Real Enough To Feel Good’ before we step up to ‘Inna Circle’, a Motor City-via-Manchester workout engineered to get dancefloors moving. Early hours club mutations arrive courtesy of ‘Last Before Lights’, hoovering up warps, pads and kinetic breakbeats in Anz’ inimitable fashion. Lights on and doors open, we emerge wide eyed on ‘Quest Select’ with the last 24 hours ringing in our ears.

Lead single ‘You Could Be’ has been on a journey all of its own. Beginning life back in 2016, Anz spent several years searching for the right vocalist to compliment the track. In 2021 she connected with London-based artist George Riley on social media, where the pair bonded over an appreciation for each other's music and a serendipitous joint appearance in Crack Magazine. After talking through the track and the concept for the EP, George got in the studio and laid down the vocals Anz had been searching for. “It’s important to me that everything I do is organic and authentic… after so many years sitting on this track and so many almost-there studio attempts, working with George was unbelievably straightforward and lovely - it felt really real and true…”

Over the coming months, Anz is set to hit the road with an impressive run of dates across the UK and Europe, including shows at Waterworks Festival, Riverside Festival, Dekmantel Selectors and Four Tet and Bicep curated nights at Warehouse Project, all alongside her own events in Manchester.

‘All Hours’ is out digitally on the 15th October on Ninja Tune, with a physical release due in November.
