Looking Backwards
by Poolside
— Released 16th March 2026 on Counter Records
Poolside (aka Jeffrey Paradise) returns with his first new music of 2026 with the single “Looking Backwards” out now on Counter Records. The release follows “Otherside” featuring indie-pop duo MiiRACLES and singer-songwriter Thunder Jackson released in November 2025.
This latest work sees Poolside returning to their roots, roots that were never safe nor predictable, nor determined by trends or results. The track begins where the early Poolside concept started: a refusal to simply "make music." This era introduces a completely new musical and visual landscape, representing the most quintessential Poolside sound yet, while remaining distinct from any of his prior creations. This era is marked visually with fine art (via William Mapan), work that is undefinable and forward-facing but emotional, beautiful, and human. Craft first.
Speaking on the new single, Poolside adds, “I didn't choose an instrumental. I chose a song. It just happens to be an instrumental. It has elements that are distinctly Poolside, but something Poolside's never made before. You can dance to it, but it's more head-nod than dance-floor." It makes you move your head versus your body. The low end feels like being at a show at Red Rocks, but the top is very detailed, electronic.”
