Her Eyes
by ZAINAB
— Released 28th April 2026 on Technicolour
ZAINAB (FKA ZEEMUFFIN) returns with “Her Eyes” her second single for Ninja Tune’s Technicolour imprint.
“Her Eyes” feels like a slice of pure hands-in-the-air summer elation, centred around a jubilant sample of Libyan-Egyptian singer-songwriter Hamid Al Shaeri, with artwork by Riyadh-based Pakistani artist Zainab Anwar. The track was also given an early outing as part of ZAINAB’s roadblock performance at this year’s Coachella, where she played the DoLab B2B with DJ Habibibeats, drawing one of the stage’s largest crowds of the entire weekend.
Speaking about the track ZAINAB shared: “After diving deep into the world of the legendary Habibi Funk label, I instantly knew I wanted to sample Hamid El Shaeri in a song somehow - his voice and nostalgic melodies are sample gold. When I first heard “Ayonha” it transported me to the feeling of spring, when the sun starts to come out and the cherry blossoms bloom - it became one of my favorite songs. I never thought we’d be able to clear this sample, and in that way it feels like a huge honor and responsibility. I know this song means so much to so many people across the Arab world, particularly Egypt and Libya, and I'm grateful that I was able to reimagine it for the modern dance floor.”
