Edinburgh-born, London based producer Barry Can’t Swim is quickly making a name for himself for making his own unique brand of world inspired, jazz inflicted electronic music. Classically trained Joshua Mannie is a hotly tipped multi-instrumentalist (piano, guitar, bass, drums), producer and DJ making heads turn and feet dance on the international club circuit. Barry Can’t Swim returns with an infectious track “Like The Old Days” out on 15th November 2022.

His knack for lush textures and blissed-out vocal samples have gained impressive accolades in his burgeoning career, making him a ‘One To Watch’ nominee by the AIM Awards, Billboard’s ‘Dance Artists To Watch in 2022’ and Scottish Alternative Music Awards 2021 nominee. Barry was tipped as The Blessed Madonna’s ‘Ones To Watch for 22’ and Annie Mac’s ‘New Names for 2021’. His release with Anish Kumar, “Blackpool Boulevard”, scored a place on the BBC Radio 1 playlist. The track was made Danny Howard’s ‘Hottest Record’ and Pete Tong’s ‘Essential New Tune’, while Mixmag included it in their ‘Best Tracks of the Year’.

“Sonder” - the focus track from his latest EP More Content - was selected as one of Billboard’s ‘First Spin: The Week’s Best New Dance Tracks'' calling it “a new level of beauty”. Further press acclaim from DJ Mag (print), Mixmag, Clash, Dance Wax, 10 Magazine, Snack Mag, Dummy, Carte Blanche Music, Bolting Bits, and many more.

“Blackpool Boulevard” was described as “an utterly infectious modern dancefloor classic” by Pete Tong and made Arielle Free’s ‘Big Whopper’ and Nick & Jordan’s ‘Track of The Week’ - receiving over 700 plays across 13 different UK stations (Radio 1, Radio 1 Dance, BBC Asian Network, BBC 1Xtra, BBC Radio 2, BBC 6 Music, BBC Radio London, BBC Radio 5, Capital FM, Capital Dance, KISS FM, KISS Fresh and Apple Music 1), reaching an audience of over 34 million! Making the Top 200 UK Shazam Chart, it reached #35 with over 68k tags. Loads more radio love from Elton John, Jax Jones, Clara Amfo, Sarah Story, Jaguar, Danny Howard, Jack Saunders, Lauren Laverne, SIan Eleri, Scott Mills, Adele Roberts, Tom Ravenscroft, Greg James, Dean McCullough, Vick & Jordan, Jeremiah Asiamah, Charlie Hedges, and Ricky, Melvin and Charlie.

Barry Can’t Swim has produced mixes for Jack Saunders’ Radio 1’s Future Artists (+ interview), Danny Howard’s ‘The Radio 1 Mini Mix’, Radio 1 Wind Down Mix, Sian Eleri’s Radio 1’s Chill Mix, 6 Music’s ‘Lose Yourself with... Barry Can’t Swim’, Jax Jones’ Apple Music 1’s’ House Work Show, Tomorrowland Radio, Insomniac Radio, Triple J Guest Mix, and an Anunja Group Therapy mix.

Barry has remixed tracks for Elderbrook & Bob Moses (850k+ streams), Ben Böhmer (908k+ plays), and Diplo x RY X (18k+ streams). He has also been in studio sessions with the likes of Biig Piig, Model Man, O’Flynn and Laurence Guy. His Amor Fati EP release is one of Shall Not Fade’s biggest streaming releases ever - receiving over 13M streams and selling out on vinyl.

Cover star of metropolis (795k), UK House Music (700k), OFF POP (421k), RADAR: First Listen (20k), and The Loft (10k), Barry was selected as Spotify's RADAR UK: First Listen artist. “Blackpool Boulevard” charted on Spotify Viral 50 - United Kingdom having peaked at #31 (135k). Other editorial playlisting includes: New Year’s Eve Dance Party & Dance Party, Massive Dance Hits, Altar, New Music Friday, House Is A Feeling, Dance Rising, POLLEN, Friday Cratediggers, Running UK, Tokyo Club Beat, New Dance Revolution, House Special, Serotonin, Brain Food, Chill Vibes, Halo, Top Shelf Electronic, Jazz UK, Fresh Finds: The Basement, Night Shift, and loads more.
